Charismatic: extremely beneficial to her cause as a pick-pocket, eloise has a soft-spoken charm that has always been quite effective with the people she targets. aside from her beauty, she is able to talk herself in and out of situations, and this charm also enables her to be quite the socialite and befriend others with ease.
Passionate: being far from boring, Eloise constantly brims with interest, always seeking out something to do and pursuing her hobbies. passing by her apartment building, one may catch the smell of baking cookies, or encountering her at the studio may treat one to a show. this being so, she hardly ever finds herself at a loss of what to do, and if she does find herself bored, she always has plenty of friends to visit and entertain.
Reliable: the people eloise does allow in her life through genuine means also tend to be people who she puts a lot of faith in. Conversely, they also put a lot of faith in her. And so, letting down those she cares about is something that bothers the ballerina deeply. eloise will always do what she can to see her promises and responsibilities through, even if it gives her much stress to do so. she enjoys being a person people can trust and feel they can rely on.
Intense: When it comes to her emotions, eloise typically uses humor to shield herself from anything that may burrow itself in her heart far too deeply. however, when she does feel something strongly, especially anger or sadness, she will often push it on herself with an intensity and overextend herself.

Origins

✧・゚: dear reader, you've flipped to the origins page... she doesn't quite like to talk about this... do be gentle with these pages, they're more valuable to her than any others... and do not judge her too harshly for what you read.✧・゚:
Eloise Diaz was born on November 10th, 1904, raised on the busy streets of Manhattan, New York to an immigrant mother; a Dominican. She has no real connection to her father, and knows of him, but does not care for him. In Eloise's mind, her father is the equivalent of a man who failed to live up to the task of becoming a responsible father figure. He does, however, attempt to contact her once or twice every few years; this sends Eloise into a small spiral, causing her to shut down from everyone around her. Her reasoning for this is much more extended than she lets on.Growing up, Eloise and her mother struggled. Being a latin family of color already proved difficult due to the socioeconomic restrictions ingrained in society. On top of this, Eloise's mother was a single mother bringing home menial income. Food was on the table when it could be, and luxuries were scarce. Eloise's mother did her best to raise her, and given those circumstances, Eloise was never spoiled. As a child, she never fully understood the reason why she couldn't have as much as the other youth in her neighborhood; it all came into understanding once Eloise got older though.Eloise's mother, although she loved her very much, was incapable of raising Eloise as long as she would have liked. Contracting Pneumonia when Eloise was five, her mother suffered from coughing fits and shortness of breath quite often. Eloise's mother was bed-bound, and the disease eventually overtook the woman beyond the point of medical care. As Eloise grew older, she developed a mild sort of resentment for the medical-industrial complex; she and her mother had little to no insurance growing up. Perhaps if her mother was able to get treatment despite that, she would have been able to overcome the disease. Now five years old, sans her mother and father, Eloise was left to the hands of the state to find a potential guardian. Luckily for her, Eloise's mother had a brother in the states, so the young girl was saved from an eternal fate as a ward of the state. Eloise was always close to the man, as he was always around for holidays and birthdays, so living with him wasn't an extremely difficult transition. Under her uncle's care, Eloise learned the necessities— discipline, education, religiosity, the arts, domesticities— even if all of them didn't stick. She grew up hearing stories of her mother from her uncle, and he often told her how she reminded him of her in more ways than one— especially in her rebelliousness. As she grew older, Eloise rebelled more and more, spending time with varying crowds and growing into herself as a young woman. One thing she never really rebelled against though was dance. For Eloise, dance was the one art that allowed her some form of deep emotional release. Therefore, when it came to attending rehearsals, Eloise never said "no". Along with perfecting the art form of ballet, Eloise also developed skills in other hobbies she enjoyed, like baking, sewing... and pickpocketing. 𝘍𝘶𝘯, 𝘩𝘶𝘩?Along with gaining her pocketing skills, Eloise learned how to properly lie, which became her modus operandi in her youth when it came to her early days of... minor crime. As time went on, Eloise improved her craft and varied the ways she would target people. It all worked to her benefit, naturally... who would believe a young ballet dancer and her friends that were galavanting the streets of New York were actually pickpockets? 𝘕𝘰-𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰.As Eloise got older, the aspect of manipulation turned into something more… seduction, one could say? Not genuine seduction by any means, just simply as a means to get into the pockets of her newer targets. But this, her seduction... she did all of this under the reputation of a proper prima ballerina.By 18, Eloise was practically living a double life, being a proper ballerina while also engaging in these other activities. She was performing for different companies in the states, attending parties and events of New York's elite. She had built herself up, made a name for herself as one of the best. A performance at the house of a famous congressman is what put her on the map. And this member of government, this 𝘮𝘢𝘯... he sent the standard for Eloise's new "clientele" for her thievery. And she found it so easy to lure them in, these newer, shinier, targets. Some casual conversation, alcohol, and maybe some drugs (if they were into that), and she found herself in the pockets of wealthier targets and leaving with her purse filled with their belongings. After go-getting and trend-setting in New York, Eloise Diaz was a recognized face in the world of ballet; an up-and-comer; new blood. And other companies wanted her bad, including the renowned French ballet company, Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris. Here she was, being given opportunities she never would have fucking dreamed of… and she took them.Once she moved to Paris, Eloise gave herself a French stage name to go by in order to increase her appeal. She took the name "Badeaux", and learned French in order to immerse herself. Learning the language wasn't difficult for her, being a native Spanish speaker; she could easily connect the words that sounded similar and make appropriate comparisons. However, despite seeming to be on the up-and-up with her career, with her life, it wasn't all satin ribbons and pearls for the young ballerina.Eloise had always been ambitious. Ambitious and determined. This applied to dance, but it also applied to her sneaky little side hobby. Once she started, she had a bit of a hard time stopping. And once she considered her new targets, it emboldened her more. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵. Why? Well, those were her motivations. 𝘕𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘺. However, perhaps she had become too brazen in France.Reportedly, after some afternoons with little ol' Eloise, some powerful people had noticed some of their valuables had gone missing- maybe some money, a watch, a flask or collar-pin here or there. Luckily, the young ballerina was smart; she never pocketed every target she came into contact with, so there were lapses in her activity. Plus, who would accuse a prima ballerina associated with the Paris Opera ballet company of petty theft? The men Eloise came into contact with were also men of power, they met with hundreds of other people every day, every hour. How could a brief conversation with a ballerina, perhaps a brief stroll- how could missing valuables be tracked back to her? To accuse a prima ballerina? 𝘕𝘰, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘥 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘦.Given this, Eloise realized she'd had enough close calls. She was smart enough to space her activity and make it seem like items had simply been misplaced or lost if she lost interest and decided to subtly return the item to her victim. But certainly, her sticky fingers had caused enough close calls. After quite some time with the Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris, Eloise decided to leave. She'd given 5-7 years to Paris and was craving a new change of pace. Not only that, but with her recent narrow escapes with pocketing, she realized she needed not draw attention to herself anymore... at least not in that scene. Joining another company or teaching was an easy enough goal to achieve. That, and the victim pool throughout the world was ripe for the picking... 𝘱𝘶𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥. Where better to start a new adventure when the entire world was Eloise's oyster? And so, she relocated, reputation and career still intact, still known as a pretty, graceful ballerina. She settled, bought a diary, decided to get into writing personally, expressing herself on paper. And she was eager to explore. Her latest words in her diary were of the following:❝Here I am, writing in your brand-new pages, dear Diary, as I prepare to find new, unsuspecting targets. Let us find some new-found adventure, dear diary… some 𝓷ew-found adventure, 𝓷ew-found love... and 𝓷ew-found pockets…❞ ~ 𝕰.𝕭

✧・゚: dear reader, you've flipped to the entries & headcanons page. her deepest thoughts and habits reside on these pages, it would be quite impolite for you to read them. it's already quite impolite for you to be reading this in general, really... you insist? well then, reader, go ahead... but as they say... you will get what you deserve...✧・゚:
__Headcanons:__
one of eloise's motivations for leaving france was because she'd cut it close too many times with her pickpocketing. she couldn't risk getting caught, so leaving was her next best bet.
eloise bakes quite regularly for her friends and loved ones, and the sweet smell of whatever she's baking on a given day will often waft through a window she's left semi-ajar.
eloise is left-handed.
being left handed, eloise will often have ink smeared on her hand whenever she writes; she quite likes this trait about herself, as it's an absolute counter to the gracefulness she's expected to pose.
eloise snores when she's extremely exhausted.
eloise's favorite sweet treat is chocolate— milk chocolate.
Her favorite flowers are hyacinths.
eloise's favorite wine is white wine.
eloise will make lunch for her friends and loved ones who fail to eat regularly.
eloise is known for putting on a show at the studio, as people will often stop and stare as she dances through the giant main window at the front of the studio.
eloise is quite fearful of the idea of lobotomies. the mere conversation of them makes her uncomfortable and leads her to panic slightly, albeit, somewhat irrationally.
eloise suffers from cold quite easily, and when she gets sick, she gets rather bad.
eloise strongly dislikes doctors and hospitals, having history with them that dates back to her childhood.
baking sweet treats and cooking warm meals for those she cares about is the way eloise shows her love, as she grew up in a culture that puts emphasis on food and how it can bring people comfort.
despite presenting a healthy lifestyle in regards to eating, eloise does suffer from a form of ED that presents itself in the form of extreme exercise. Especially when under extreme stress, eloise will push herself beyond healthy limits, making herself ill at times because she dances without giving herself a break.
despite knowing the risk of pickpocketing the most elite of society, eloise would much rather do that than debase herself as a sexual object to the very same men. having witnessed too many of her fellow ballerinas do the same to get by with more cash, she hates the notion that ballerinas are expected to bow to men of such class, using her beauty, charm, and poise for other endeavors, including more genuine relations.
eloise can often be caught flipping between languages when she speaks, and her american accent has a slight twinge of hispanic emphasis in it when she says certain words.
eloise loves to collect small fabergé figurines of animals, and has them resting atop a small corner of the fireplace mantle and side table in her home.
